Soccer staffing at scale: How PeopleReady supported a complex operation across 11 cities
CHALLENGE
Bringing a global sporting event to life takes more than what happens on the field. The tournament spanned 11 U.S. host cities and drew millions of fans, with countless events and moving parts running at once. For our customer, that meant staffing an operation in constant motion. Official fan festivals with concerts and giant screens ran alongside the matches, while behind-the-scenes crews moved equipment and pulled team uniforms from offsite warehouses on tight timelines.
An event at this scale is, by nature, dynamic. Staffing needs evolved as the tournament approached and operations shifted from city to city, requiring a workforce that could scale and adapt in step with the event itself. The customer needed temp workers who could step into a range of event and stadium staffing roles as needs changed. And every worker, regardless of how quickly they were needed, had to clear a full accreditation process before setting foot on-site.
SOLUTION
PeopleReady began building the plan in late 2025, well ahead of kickoff. By mid-March, crews were already staffing the customer’s logistics, three months before a single fan walked into a stadium.
As the event drew closer, PeopleReady’s teams matched its pace: worker counts flexed up and down, and PeopleReady adapted quickly whenever procedures were refined along the way. Local branch teams, national account teams and sister companies worked in lockstep to keep every market moving together. This flexible approach to temp staffing allowed the customer to adjust its workforce as event needs shifted across cities and locations.
A centralized team site and live chat connected territory managers and staffing specialists with central teams throughout the day, giving the operation a direct channel to flag and resolve issues fast. Remote teams took on onboarding and administrative work, freeing field teams to stay focused entirely on staffing.
Accreditation required its own focus. Local PeopleReady teams met in person with every eligible associate to verify their information, while a dedicated team member coordinated the effort nationwide and submitted each associate’s information to the portal. Together, they guided hundreds of associates through accreditation and clearance.
RESULTS
PeopleReady stood behind the customer for four months of event staffing, from the warehouse work in mid-March through the final matches.
Key results include:
- 673 associates placed
- 11 U.S. cities serviced
- 12 off-site support locations
- 70,000 total hours worked
- 20 PeopleReady branches involved
- 4 months of staffing support
And the customer’s operation was just one piece of a much bigger effort: 28 PeopleReady branches, 1,150 associates, 63 jobsites and nearly 90,000 hours across all 11 host cities over four months.
From a single staffing need to a multi-city operation, PeopleReady has the temp workers and event staffing solutions to scale with the work. Whatever the need, our teams are ready to adapt and deliver.
